Interesting Read!
Like most people, I am always looking for ways to be a little more healthy, have a bit more energy and to try keeping my jeans from getting too tight. As we age, it seems that the pounds (sorry, kilos), just seem to find their way into our lives and onto our waistline. We try everything….running endless miles (sorry, kilometers), keto, paleo, Atkins, low-fat, high-fat, low carb, all fruits/veggies, blah, blah, blah. The list is endless. Frankly, all of these “diets” work… for a while. But what always seems to happen? Yep, after some time those pounds (sorry, kilos) creep back and bring a few friends. WHY? Well, this book does a great job explaining how our bodies have a set “weight thermostat” that it will always attempt to regulate. If we eat too little, the body slows down metabolism to maintain its set weight. If we eat too much, it increases energy output, but stores the excess calories as fat. Are we doomed? NO. Take a look at this book and get an insight on the real culprit, namely insulin resistance. I won’t spoil the plot for you, but it does a great job of explaining what we can do to re-set our thermostat to a lower setting and make our body WANT to be leaner. What do you have to lose? Maybe a few pounds (sorry, kilos)?
